As part of my process of keeping positive, I’m focusing on things that I need to be grateful for especially during this time. My mind has this way of doing its own thing so instead of coming up with things I am grateful for, it has led me to jot this short list of things that I used to take for granted. Here’s to hoping you can also see that silver lining and when this pandemic is over, we all emerge as somewhat better versions of ourselves:
๐๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ต ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐ง๐ณ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ด โ Iโm regretting all the plans Iโve cancelled or refused in the past just because I was too lazy to get dressed and leave the house. Too often I passed on opportunities to get out and mingle and convinced myself because I work a lot, I need to stay home as much as possible. I’m going to ensure that at least once per month I get out and hang with my team. Brunch with Mimosas!
๐๐บ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ต๐ฉ โ If itโs one thing this virus is teaching us is the basics of hygienic habits. Itโs also reminding us to take care of our bodies and not take it for granted. I’ve actually started working out with this extra time and I am so grateful that my body allows me to do so.
๐๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐บ โ I never think about how fortunate I am that I can stay in the comfort of my home, feel for a hot, cheesy pizza, turn to my laptop and order one to be delivered directly to me in under an hour! I will never take for granted again my home, my laptop, my wifi, and the ability to afford all of this, as I know that for many these were never a reality.
๐๐ณ๐ข๐ท๐ฆ๐ญ โ Travelling is my detox – and I try to detox every couple of months. And as much as I know I am fortunate to be able to do so, I have taken for granted the fact that for the past 10 years I’ve always had a trip planned to look forward to and a recent trip I can reminisce about. I am ever so thankful for a job that allows me the flexibility to do so.
๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ด โ My husband and I eat out or order delivery a lot. However, during this time of quarantine and with a newborn, I am ever so grateful to be with my parents and get a delicious home-cooked meal EVERY day! As much as I miss take-out, nothing compares to meals prepared with love. And I’m learning a couple of new dishes to try out when I do leave this cozy haven and head back to my own abode.
This is a shortlist written at night and by no means is this exhaustive but I hope it has given you something to think about.
XOXO
Nikki
